BAREILLY(Pilibhit), UP: One medical student dead, 2 others injured after car collides with speeding truck on 12th April 2018
A medical student died, while two others sustained grievous injuries after a car in which they were travelling collided with a speeding truck. The accident occurred on Pilibhit road on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday when six postgraduate students of Shri Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences were returning from a birthday party. Dr Shivali Singh died, while two others are said to be critical.
Medical Superintendent of SRMS, Dr Shyam Kumar Handa said, “Around 2.30 am, the students were returning from a birthday party. The injured were admitted to SRMS hospital. First year PG student Shivali Singh, 26, a resident of Kashipur in Uttarakhand, succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Two other students, Astha and Surbhi, are in critical condition, while the remaining three — Anshika, Aishwarya and Chandan — are out of danger.”
Later, Astha was referred to a Gurgaon-based hospital for further treatment.
“Aishwarya was driving the car when the vehicle collided with a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction near Mayur Van Chetna Kendra on Pilibhit road under Izzatnagar police station,” he added.
Izzatnagar police station house officer Sanjay Kumar Singh said, “Some passer-by informed us about the incident. After reaching the spot we took them to a nearby private hospital from where they were shifted to SRMS hospital. It has come to our knowledge that they were returning from a city-based hotel after a birthday party.”
