VIJAYAPURA: A private school bus carrying 40 students overturned due to a tire burst at Zalaki on Monday. All the students escaped as the bus fell next to an open well, which has a depth of 50 feet.
The incident happened when a school bus of a private institution was heading towards Mugur to drop the students. Around 4.30 pm the tire burst and the bus overturned and fell next to the open well at the outskirts of the Dhulaked near Zalaki. The bus driver, without rescuing children, fled from the spot but the passers-by soon rushed to the spot and rescued the children. In the incident, six children suffered minor injuries and all of them took to the nearby hospital.
According to the police, "The 40 school students escaped safely. All the students have been rescued and only six of them suffered minor injuries. The driver who fled from the spot was arrested in a nearby village," they said.
