Mumbai: A six-year-old boy died and nine people suffered injuries when the overcrowded autorickshaw they were travelling in turned turtle after being hit by truck at Charoti naka in Dahanu on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway on Friday night. The police are yet to trace the truck and its errant driver.
Sahil Ander (6) died on the spot, while six of the nine passengers suffered serious injuries. The police said the autorickshaw was ferrying residents of nearby villages to Mahalaxmi temple in Dahanu where the annual fair is on when the truck rammed it at 9pm. The auto driver lost control of the vehicle and it turned turtle.
The injured—most of them have sustained injuries on the limbs— are being treated at Kasa government hospital.
